Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a dynamic Executive Director of Diagnostic Imaging to lead imaging operations across five hospitals and four outpatient centers. The Opportunity

The Imaging Department at NGMC will provide nearly 600,000 procedures in Fiscal Year 2025 across five hospitals and four freestanding Outpatient Imaging Centers. Playing a key role at NGMC, the Imaging Department supports NGMC’s renowned patient care programs including orthopedics, neurology/neurosurgery, oncology, surgery and trauma. The department is rapidly expanding in both the outpatient and inpatient settings to meet the needs of a growing medical staff and patient population as well as increasing acuity in overall services. The department is also in the midst of large IT projects including the replacement of its PACs system and installation of Artificial Intelligence (AI Doc) systems to aid in diagnosis. The department has a rich history of high-quality services and numerous accreditations, and also strategically partners with numerous schools for training and recruitment pipelines.

The Executive Director of Diagnostic Imaging is accountable for the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the Imaging Department across the enterprise that focuses on maximizing NGMC’s targeted market capture. Establishes and achieves financial, operational, and quality performance targets for all imaging modalities, working collaboratively with radiologists, medical staff, and System leadership. Duties include program and business development, brand development, oversight of operations, quality assurance & accreditation, financial planning/operations, revenue cycle, capital planning & acquisition, development of successful relationships with physicians, marketing of service lines, strategic development, community relations, capacity and access optimization, management of customer services, as well as other duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs and Manages Operations: Oversees multiple modalities, teams, and patient care delivery sites across administrative and clinical areas.
  • Physician Relations: Builds strong physician alliances, fosters collaboration within a physician/operations team, and focuses on program leadership, development, strategic planning, quality, patient experience, customer satisfaction, and market share growth.
  • Regulatory and Fiscal Oversight: Manages regulatory, administrative, and fiscal activities, including patient care, business support functions, strategic development, space allocation, fundraising, and collaborations with system departments like IT and revenue cycle.
  • Quality and Patient Care: Ensures quality patient care delivery, regulatory compliance (CMS, DNV, State of Georgia, ACR), and oversees transition planning, process of care, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Develops and sustains a strong management structure, ensures appropriate staffing levels, sets performance expectations, and addresses performance deficits.
  • Performance Monitoring and Improvement: Develops and monitors clinical and performance metrics, tracks volume and financial performance, implements actions to meet goals, and utilizes Lean Theory to identify and improve work processes.
  • Capital Planning and Equipment Management: Oversees capital equipment and device utilization planning, manages equipment warranties and service agreements, and ensures adherence to preventive maintenance.
  • Professional Development and Collaboration: Maintains active participation in relevant professional associations, achieves best practice models and benchmarks, and promotes harmonious interdepartmental relationships and cooperation.
  • Radiology Group Management: Actively manages relationships with radiology groups, ensuring service levels, contractual obligations, and overall group health and stability.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • MHA, MBA or other health related masters degree.

Experience

  • Minimum Experience: Five (5) years of health care experience leading fully developed Health System Imaging Department. Prior Management of Imaging Service Line including multi-location Inpatient and Outpatient Imaging Centers.
  • Must demonstrate program development and revenue enhance programs as well as successful physician and staff relations.

Licenses/Certification​

  • Current ARRT.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a candidate with a proven track record in growing and strengthening outpatient imaging market share while operationally supporting a large imaging department and working collaboratively with contracted radiology groups. The ideal candidate will have experience leading both inpatient and outpatient imaging services and demonstrate expertise in competitive market positioning, business development, marketing, staff engagement, and analytics.

This individual should be confident in their ability to lead large-scale projects and build effective relationships with staff and physicians. Strategic acumen, adaptability, high energy, and quick decision-making skills are essential for success in this role.

Anothony Williamson

VP of Construction and Shared Support Services

Anthony Williamson is VP of Construction and Shared Support Services for NGHS. He previously held the position of President of Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton and the Southern Market Leader. He has systemwide responsibility for Construction Management, System Properties, Radiology, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Respiratory Therapy, Plant Operations, Food and Nutritional Services,
Environmental Services, and Security Services. Anthony joined NGHS in 2005 as Vice President of Professional Services.  He came to North Georgia after working in healthcare leadership in Kentucky and Florida.  Anthony holds an MBA and MHS from the University of Florida, and BS in Science from Florida State University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
