The Opportunity

Prisma Health, Lila Doyle Rehab Center, is hiring for a seasoned and dedicated Director of Nursing for their 120 bed long term care rehabilitation center. This 4-star facility has a long history of a waitlist with generous and continuous community support. This facility sits in a beautiful area of South Carolina near 3 lakes at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains close to Clemson University. Lila Doyle is known for its caring and home like environment with an abundance of family participation. This center is big on education and works with local students who come in for further training and hands on experience working with some of the best clinical staff. Prisma Health places a high priority on work life balance and has a few layers of leadership in place allowing this DON to focus on clinical care throughout the building. There is a full-time scheduler and 2 nurse managers who support the DON. Excellent benefits to include competitive base salary + bonus and a complete and comprehensive relocation package.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.

Accountabilities

  1. Leading – 20%

    1. Analyzes data/information in relation to making decisions.

    4. Provides in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department.
    5. Assures that all certifications and competencies required and recommends sufficient number of staff to support and carry out the provision of services.
    6. Develops and ensures completion of Introductory/Orientation Period Checklists and competencies.
    7. Meets with staff to discuss what is important to them, their goals, and management expectations.
  4. Standards and Accountability – 20%
    1. Ensures staff understands the goals/tasks they are accountable for achieving.
    2. Sets performance improvement priorities and ensures that important processes and activities are measured, assessed, and improved systematically.
    3. Identifies and implements appropriate patient safety strategies relative to the department.
    4. Ensure survey readiness for Joint Commission, DHEC, CMS, and other regulatory agencies.
    5. Demonstrates and ensures employees compliance with consistent behavior in accord with the expectations for excellent customer service to patients, families, physicians, visitors, employees, and others.
  5. Communicating and Managing Relationships – 20%
    1. Shares information and feedback with direct reports and co-workers appropriately.
    2. Expresses concerns and makes suggestions in a manner consistent with spirit of cooperation and collaboration.
    3. Demonstrates positive verbal and non-verbal communication skills that enhance the work environment.
    4. Provides leadership and direction that promotes an efficient and effective staff and fosters open communication.
    5. Coordinates processes with those of other departments and health care related organizations.
    6. Develops a culture that emphasizes cooperation and communication between individual staff members, other departments, and medical staff.
    7. Develops policies and procedures in collaboration with associated departments.
    8. Participates in interdepartmental committees to foster communication and integration.
    9. Coordinates for Provision of Services not available at OHM.
    10. Develops relationships with higher management.
    11. Cultivates networks of people across a variety of functions and departments within the organization.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or two year Nursing Degree with the ability to obtain the BSN within 5 years

Experience

  • 3 years – Progressive nursing management or LTC Management experience

Licenses/Certification​

  • RN, Regisered Nurse, NLRN
